Lieut. MC. Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166 Box 3004A-53, Item 385213, B3004A-5053. Date of Birth: 11/04/1894 at Windsor, ON. the son of Michael L. Farrell of Thamesville, ON. A single bank clerk. Attestation: 15/01/1915 at Walkerton, ON. at the age of 20 years 9 months. He later volunteered to be an officer his “Officers Declaration” October 1915 he was then living at Thamesville living with his father. Still employed as a Bank Clerk. His declaration then indicated that he had served with the 32nd Bruce Regt. militia. He enlisted in the 71st Battalion.

He was reported overseas 20/10/1915 with the 4th Battalion when he passed his Medical Board. 

While serving with the 71st Batt. he was wounded in action. As a result of his actions he was Gazetted with the Military Cross 19/08/16. After recovering from his wounds he served in France with the 36th, 4th, 1st Trench Mortor Battery, 2nd COR and the Canadian Army Pay Corp. The was SOS 3/09/1919.

Joseph passed away 12 June, 1951.
