Leonard enlisted in 1940, and served at BTC. No. 12 in Chatham, ON. as a Lieutenant, and overseas as a Captain in England and Northwest Europe.

He saw service in Canada, England, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He had the role of ‘paymaster’ with the 30th A.A. Regiment R.C.A. 31st ALTA RECCE Regiment, 6th CDN Grn Bn, 3rd North Shore (N.B.) Regiment, C.A.O.F.

Leonard was discharged on June 20th, 1946

Leonard passed away 23/10/2014 at the Chatham-Kent Health at the age of 96 years. The burial was in St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Chatham, ON. Rita, his wife, passed away Tuesday, 14/07/2015.
