The son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Annan of Fourth St., Chatham, ON. 

Henry enlisted in November 1942, trained at Toronto, Belleville, Brantford, Fingal and received his wings at Crumlin 25/02/1943 and was commissioned as a pilot officer.  CDN 22/06/44.  The WJ 18/01/43 reported that AC2 Annan was visiting his parents at their home on Fourth St.

 He was then transferred overseas to serve. CDN 15/06/44.

The CDN 16/04/44(P) reported that Harry was a former newspaper carrier.  He was serving in England with the RCAF. In a letter home, he thanked the newspaper for the copies of the paper sent to him overseas. He said, “the items of interest from home , no one has any idea of the boost it gives the morale of the soldiers to receive news from home.”

P.O. Annan wrote of the courage of the Londoners during the robot bombing of the capital (reference of the VI flying bombs). The courage of the inhabitant’s of Soho, Piccadilly, and Kensington were outstanding.
