Archer Edward A Pete

 

Born in 1916 at Tilbury, On. the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Archer of Carlyle Ave., Tilbury and brother of Peter. Edward was raised in  Tilbury where he attended both public and high school.

Pete joined the Kent Regt. in May of 1940, Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown).

In October of 1940, age of 24 years, he stationed at St. Thomas ATS when he was granted a weekend leave to visit his parents. TT 24/10/40.  He transferred to the RCAF enlisting in Windsor, ON., his first posting was at St. Thomas, ON.  February of 1941, Pete was on leave from St. Thomas ATS, 13/02/41. Peter left for his new station at Dartmouth, NS. 20/02/41. In March of 1941 he had moved on to Air Training School at Dartmouth NS., he had a two weeks leave at home in Tilbury. 20/03 to 5/04/41. In August of 1941 Peter of RCAF Atlantic Patrol and was on furlough with his parents. 19/08/41.   From there he trained at Dartmouth NS. TT 20/02/41   In June of 1941 his training in the RCAF as an instrument mechanic and he was posted overseas to 407 Squadron a Swordfish Squadron.  In May of 1942 Cpl. Archer had spent ten months with the RCAF in Newfoundland when he was granted a two week furlough to visit his parents in Tilbury. CDN 28/05/42.  His parents received a cable that Peter had arrived in England for his overseas posting in August of 1942. TT 6/08/42.  

He returned from overseas duty on 30 June, 1945 Aboard the Aquitania, and was posted to Debert, NS..  The CDN 18/07/45 reported that LAC Archer married Mavis Jane (nee Cawley). Pete was demobilized in September of 1945

Edward Andrew Archer passed away 28/02/2008 with interment at St. George’s Cemetery, Tilbury.
