Unit # RCAF

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Everitt of Port Alma, Kent Co., ON. Arthur attended high school in Merlin and later in Blenheim. A brother Gordon served in Italy with the Army.  Before enlisting in the RCAF Art had obtained his private and commercial pilots licenses.

Art enlisted in January of 1941 He trained at Brantford and Trenton and became an instructor training others in the BCATP at Prince Albert Sask.   He would be there for two years.  In June of 1943 he completed his training at Dunnville, “graduated and was commissioned as a pilot Officer.   By November of 1943 he was promoted to Flying Officer.    He had logged 3,000 flying hours. CDN 14/03/44.   The CDN 14/03/44 reported that Art had arrived overseas.

The CDN 5/06/45 reported that Cpl. A. E. Atkinson had returned from overseas for other duties in Canada.
