Edward enlisted in October of 1943 served in Camp Iperwash, Chatham and London, ON. Edward was called to the army in October of 1943. He signed up for ‘active duty’ apparently thinking he might not pass the muster because he had a hernia. This is promptly repaired and he was on the active part of the forces. He was to go overseas on two occasions – the first time his mother died and the second time there was too much snow for them to get out. He drove truck during his service because he had been train as a driver/mechanic.

Pte. Avery was discharged in April, 1945

Edward passed away 24/09/92.
