Gerald enlisted 1/08/42 at Windsor, ON. and did his Basic Training at BTC No.12 Chatham, ON. In October of 1942 after a week-end leave at home he departed for Red Deer, Alberta.

Gerald was reported home from training at Red Deer, Alberta on a 15 day furlough in January of 1943. 

He was Honourably Discharged (medically Unfit) 15/05/1943.
