A letter from Walter appeared in the Wallaceburg News 11/12/42 in the “From Boys Overseas” column as follows:

                                                                                                            Nov. 2, 1942

    Dear Sir:

I am writing this letter to express my kind regards to you for the papers I have received. It is nice to be able to read about what goes on in our town. It is the first paper that I have had from my own town in which I lived most of my life and I can only hope they will continue to arrive safely.

I have seen Ken Colwell here quite often and he is looking swell. I am having a wonderful time over here. I have been down to Scotland and the people are wonderful.

But I would like to be back in good old Canada. Some of the boys have been posted back home,of course they have been here a long time. Well I guess I must close now.
