The son of A. David and Jane Grace ‘Jennie’ (nee Wheeler) Brander. Address Box 138, Wallaceburg, ON. The brother of Gerald Livingston, service number 3135140.

Private Alan P. Brander served for one year with the 24th. Kent Militia.

Private Alan P. Brander trained in Toronto with the Cycle Corps and went overseas in April 1916. Due to this Corps being disbanded, he was transferred to the 74th. Battalion, and later to the 102nd Battalion. He proceeded to France in August, 1916, and the battalion formed a unit of the 4th Division. He served until November 16th, 1917, when he was gassed at Passchendaele. He was admitted to hospital in England and received treatment until September 1918 when he was transferred to Seaford to await transportation to Canada. He sailed from England December 9th, 1918, arriving in Canada December 15th, 1918.

Private Alan P. Brander received his discharge at London, Ontario, January 15th, 1919, being medically unfit for further military service.
