Regimental number: 880003 Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 1384 – 19, Present address Botwell, ON.  Date of Birth 24/09/1897 at Bothwell, Kent Co.,  ON. Son of Alex Calderwood of Bothwell. A Single clerk. He had no connection for Military training.  Attestation: 31/01/1916 at Chatham, ON. to 186th transferred to 135th.

Age: 18 years 4 mths., Height: 6’ , Girth: 37” Complexion: Fair, Eyes: Brown, Hair: Brown. Left foreman with a tattoo of Heart & Sword. Medical: ‘FIT” 28/01/16 at Chatham, ON. 

27/04/15 John contracted Mumps and was admitted. 16 General Hospital in London, ON. He had  a Hernia and was still weak.   

John embarked at Halifax, NS.22/08/16 aboard the S.S. Olympic. Arrived in England at Liverpool –  Date of Service 28/02/18 – France with the 4th CMR.  Reported wounded Sept. 1918. He had received a GSW to his left hand 31/08/18. 26/10/18 : “Healed after having been septic. Good result. He has a hernia which he wants treated but not decirable in view of treatment before operation A. E. b. , etc?”  Discharged to Duty 8/01/1919.  

His Discharge Certificate from the 186th Bn. – 4th  Bn. in France an in England to the 134th Batt. Age: 22 years, Height 6’1”, Tattoo right arm., Ampt. Left index finger. Scar – right groin.Disc. 18/11/19 at Quebec 

Assignment of wages went to his wife Gladys Kate Calderwood of Belmore Villis, Chapel Lane, Melford, Surrey, England of $20.00. Date of marriage 10/02/17. It appears that she was still in England when John had returned to Canada 16/10/19. TOS –  returned to Canada 3/11/19.   

20/09/19 was discharged at London, ON.

It was reported that Robert John CALDERWOOD passed away 17/08/5
