Thomas enlisted in October 1942 in Windsor, ON. age 37 years. In June of 1943 Tom was at No.1 Manning Pool, Toronto, for his basic RCAF training. In August of 1943 Tom had completed his course at RCAF-Clinton and was on a fourteen day leave at his parents before being reassigned to Dartmouth NS.
