Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 1919 – 23 Date of Birth 01/05/1897 at London, England. Son of Edward Thomas (400644) and Sarah Connor and brother of Edward Thomas (880845) of Tilbury, ON.    Attestation: 7/06/1915 at London, ON. to 33rd Bn. Because he was a minor when he arrived overseas he was detailed for ‘camp service’ at Shorncliffe, England until he turned eighteen. He was in a reinforcement draft to the 18th Bn. in France. According to a TT article 29/05/18 “ He participated in a number of the closing events [battles], without a casualty.”   Reported returned from O/S duty. “His brother Ed Conner Jr. of the same battalion, was to have accompanied him home but missed his train in England.” [from the same article.] TDHS.   CDP 25/05/19.

The son of Edward Thomas (401018) Alfred passed away in January of 1939 at the home of his sister Mrs. J. Phillips at Coatsworth, ON., at the age of 38 years. Internment at Maple Leaf Cemetery – Tilbury.
