Son of Mr. and Mrs. Sydney Croucher of 81 Patteson Ave., Chatham, ON. Prior to his enlistment he was employed at the Ontario Steel Products Co., Chatham. As a youngster he was a carrier boy for the Chatham Daily News. The husband of Norma (nee McNichol) the father of Michael who were residing in Detroit, Michigan. Prior to his enlistment, Norman worked at the Ontario Steel Products.

The CDN 16/03/44 reported that Norman had arrived overseas. The CDN 20/10/44 reported that Flt Sgt. Croucher serving as a wireless air gunner. was “missing after air operations” on 15 October. There was a later report he was “safe and well”. His aircraft was overdue and thus believed to be missing. The pilot apparently succeeded in landing in Allied territory, or bringing the craft to base. Norman had been in the RCAF for about three years and had been overseas since January 1944. The CDN 1/02/45(P) reported that he had been serving overseas about three years.   

The CDN. 18/01/45(P) reported “Chatham Airman Discuss Air Operations”. A photo of WO.2 Croucher and FO. Charles Dionne DFC from Montreal both serving in RCAF Alouette squadron talk over their next mission.

Norman was reported commissioned as a Pilot Officer (WAG) in the CDN 1/02/45(P). He had been serving overseas “for about three years” when he received his commission.
