The eldest son of Mrs. A. P. Drohan of Wellington Street West, Chatham, ON.  The brother of Arthur in the RCAF.   

Served with the Kent Regiment from September 1939 to July 25th, 1940.

Trained in Canada till January 1942.  In May of 1942 Sgt. Drohan was reported home in May of 1942 to attend a party for P/O Bernard Denomy before he left for Charlottetown PEI and James returned to British Columbia. CDN 19/05/42. 

The CDN 13/09/44 reported that L/Cpl. Drohan was recently reported WIA while serving in Italy,

James was reported returning to Canada aboard the Queen Elizabeth. CDN 17/11/45(P)

Transferred to C.I.RU. and went overseas. Served in England, Italy and Holland. In May of 1942 Sgt. Drohan was reported home in May of 1942 to attend a party for P/O Bernard Denomy before he left for Charlottetown PEI and James returned to British Columbia. CDN 19/05/42. Was wounded October 16th, 1944 and hospitalized in Italy. Reverted to Private for overseas duty.

James was reported returning to Canada aboard the Queen Elizabeth. CDN 17/11/45(P)

The CDN 23/11/45(P) reported that Pte. James Drohan had returned to Canada with the Essex Scottish and he was “prepared to leave the Windsor Armoury, his mother went to the ‘Border City’ to meet the young veteran.

Discharged January 1946.
