Son of William James and Jemima Dundas of Wheatley, ON. George attended Wheatley Public School, later Albert College in Belleville, ON. and Victoria College at the University of Toronto. Single, Attestation 10/02/1915. 

Age: 24 yrs. 4 mths., Height: 5’ 10”, Complexion: Dark, Eyes: Grey, Hair: Dark Brown, Weight: 145#. A ‘Birthmark’ on Chest, one testicle removed.

Medical: 10/02/15 at Toronto, ON. Medical History “Fit”. 

He was also to C.O.T.C from 1912 – 15.   Member of the 15th Reg’t. Attestation; 15/02/1915 at Toronto, ON. to the Eaton Machinegun Battery. “ Casualty Form – Active Service.  George received his commission in the Royal Field Artillery, later promoted to Captain.

1/04/15 – Assigned Pay to Union Bank in Wheatley, ON. 

George embarked aboard the S. S. Metagama from Canada 4/06/15. Arrived in England to Shorncliffe 9/06/15 (Part II Orders) 

Early in 1915 George enlisted in the Eaton’s Machine Gun Battery – E Battery. 

George received his commission in the Royal Field Artillery, later promoted to Captain at Folkstone 29/11/15. Theatre of War – England. Date of Discharge  and taken on the Royal Field Artillery. Commissioned as an Officer and in the British RFA.  In March of 1916 he joined the 161st Brigade in the course of his service he was promoted to a Captain while serving in France. Captain Dundas  was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry while in command of four trench mortars in October on the Somme, “When he was in command of four trench mortars placed at widely separated points. He was gassed in September of 1917 and spent several months recovering in Scotland. He was awarded a Bar to his MC., during the March Retreat, 10 April, 1918 he returned to France and was wounded on the 12th at some point a few months later he was awarded a Bar for his MC.

21 August, 1918 he made his last entry in his diary during the advance from Amiens to Mons, he was probably wounded so after and died the 2nd of September.  CDP 28/08/17WJ 11/11/09

His name is on the “Roll of Service.” Univ. of Toronto? Roll of Service 1914-18. His name is with the other 627 names in the “Soldier’s Tower” U of T. Also noted in the “Acta Victoriana – War Supplement – Victoria Collage – 1919.
