Born in Blenheim, ON. 12/01/1920. Married Dorthy Alberta (nee Walker). CDN 15/01/46.

Fred enlisted in the Navy 30/05/1941 at HMCS Hunter, Windsor. He served aboard HMCS Windsor, HMCS Assiniboine and HMCD Montreal  sailing in the North Atlantic and English Channel.

He was on HMCS Assiniboine during it’s battle with the German submarine U 210 on 6/08/43 when the ship rammed and sank the submarine after a heated surface action taking five hours. This was just a battle of the two vessels only. This was the first action for the Assiniboine and most of her crew 

HMCS Assiniboine in another action helped to rescue survivors from a sunken U-boat near Land’s End, England. 

Fred was discharged from the Navy in 1945.
