Born 8/08/1924 in Blenheim, ON. the son of Mr. T. Walter (WWI) and Mrs. Rose Ethel Fenton who was living at 551 Queen St., Chatham, ON. the brother of Mrs. Ronald Beech of Chatham when Bill enlisted 18/01/1943.  

“Bill” enlisted 18/01/43 and trained at HMCS Hunter, Windsor, ON., from 22/02/43 until 4/05/45. He was then sent to HMCS Cornwallis, NS. from 5/05/43 until 18/07/43 when he was transferred to HMCS Stadacona until 12/09/43 from there to HMCS Niobe joining HMCS Chaudiere 15/11/44 receiving the rank of Able Seaman. Bill also in the Bay of Big Cay and the English Channel.

After his training he served on HMCS Chaudière in the North Atlantic, Bay of Biscay and the English Channel. In February 1944 he was transferred to Escort Group C2 that was based in Derry.

O/S Fenton trained at HMCS Hunter from 22/02/43 until 4/05/45. He was then sent to HMCS Cornwallis, NS. from 5/05/43 until 18/07/43 when he was transferred to HMCS Stadacona until 12/09/43 from there to HMCS Niobe joining HMCS Chaudiere in 15/11/44 receiving the rank of Able Seaman. The CDN 19/01/45 reported that AB Fenton was returning to Halifax after a furlough with his parents.   

Bill would serve on HMCS Staacona, Pereguinna, Naden, Givenchy, and back to Naden 10/08/45 to 20/10/45. He would return to HMCS Hunter in Windsor, ON. when he would be discharged from service 14/11/1945 due to demobilization.

William married Audrey Elizabeth (nee McKellar). CDN 20/04/51.

William passed away 17 January, 1995 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim, ON. in the same plot as his father who served in the Great War serving with the 48th Highlanders.
