Pte. 844485, 149th Batt. 153rd Batt. and 18th Batt. RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166,Box 3282 – 45, Item: 406512, PDF B3382-S045. Born: 25/05/1889 at Tilbury, Kent Co., ON. The son of Sophia Voxart (mother) living in Wallaceburg, ON. His next of kin: Mrs. Hannah May Gallerno (wife). A labourer, he was living in Sarnia, ON. prior to his enlistment.

Attestation 1/04/1916 at Sarnia; age 27 years 5’4”,Girth: 35”, Complexion: Dark, Eyes: Blue, Hair: Light Brown. Enlisted with the 149th Batt. from 1/04/16 to 29/03/17. John would transfer to the 153rd overseas battalion.

From Halifax 29/04/17 aboard the S. S. Olympic and disembarked at Liverpool, England 7/05/17. He was ten sent to the segregation camp – Bramshot, England. He was in England from May 1917 to March 1918.

He was taken on strength with 18th Batt. in France 20/03/18 at Estaples. He was hospitalize due to a strong cough which he had for many years and there was suspicion he may have had Pulminary Tuberculosis. The hospital came to the conclusion that john was not happy about any hard work of any kind so he was transferred to the cook house. He was in France from March 1918 to January 1919.

It was finally concluded that he was not fit for overseas service in “Any Branch”   

There was a note in his file that he was at Parkwood Hospital, London, ON. 2 November, 1982 but could not see a reason, he would be 93 at that time.
