Of Tilbury, ON. Reported enlisting in the Canadian Army in November of 1943 and served overseas with the RCE. John was stationed at Niagara-on-the Lake with the 1^st Kent Batt. He also went to Torrance, BC and Bala with the Kents.

John was discharged from the Army 15 April, 1946 and his rifle serial number was returned was 75L8740.
