Tpr. A. Coy. Paratroop Bn. 218. The following letter appeared in the WN 6/08/42 in the column “From Boys Overseas” as follows:

1694 Pte. Don Genyn,

A Coy, II Bon.

P.B. 218

Dear Sir,

Received your papers, thanks very much for them and I hope you keep on sending them. Well I expected to see a war torn England but I was really surprised when I got here, it is really a lovely country. Leonard Rogiest and myself are in the Paratroops. He has his wings and I expect to get mine soon. You don’t get them until you make a certain amount of jumps but that’s where the fun comes in. I’m quite discouraged at the clubs in the ‘Burg’, because I never received a thing, not even from the Red Cross, maybe they didn’t have my address. I don’t know I noticed in the paper the boys names who are overseas received cigs and things. Oh well, I received the news an how, that’s really welcomed, it’s just like being home again. Well keep on sending the paper and a million thanks for it.

Yours until the News get no more news.

Dear Sirs:

Here is another little note. I should have sent this letter before but I’ve been in the hospital these last 3 months and just got out and I’m on leave in Birmingham. It is a lovely city and the people are really nice and friendly here too. I want to apologize, I have received 13,000 (cigs) from the Glass House but that’s the only place I have received any fags from.
