Veteran of 1st World War R.A.F. Served with the Kent Regiment and had received the Canadian Efficiency Decoration.

Posted for overseas duty January 1941, and served for a time in England. In 1944 he entered France with the spear head continuing  through Holland, Belgium and into Germany and was made Military Governor at Veechta with the 30th Army Corps under the British Liberation Army. Was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Discharged November 1945.
