Born in February of 1924, the son of Hulbert ‘Bert’ and Mildred Hancock.  Donald enlisted 27-08-1941 at the age of 17 years with the permission of his father.  He started his service with the Navy as a Stoker 2nd Class.  He was discharged 12-10-1945 as a Petty Officer.

The DT 29/04/43 reported that Stocker 1st Class Hancock had been on active service with the Navy for the past several months he had a short visit with his parents before returning to duty, It was reported that Stocker Hancock had left for Hamilton in August of 1943 he would, later in the week, resume his duties in the Navy. DT 12/08/43

He started his service with the Navy as a Stocker 2nd Class. Donald was reported being at home visiting with his wife  daughter and his parents. He was leaving for the east coast after his furlough. He was discharged 12/10/1945 as a Petty Officer.

Donald married Jean Melrose (nee Lockhart) and they had four children, Sherry (while he was in service), Dawn, Christopher and Judith. In 1988 he was living in Dresden. (IODE-CM)

Discharged October 12, 1949.

Donald passed away 16/02/1994 and is buried in the Dresden Cemetery.
