Rank Flt./Sgt.
Unit # RCAF

Born in Chatham, ON. An air gunner in a Lancaster bomber. Participated in the bombing missions over France on D-Day 6/06/1944. In September of 1942 he married his ‘war bride’ Jessica Mary Richards in Bedwellty, Wales. They had a child (photo 1951).

Information provided by Jerry Hannigan, the nephew of Flt. Sgt Hanigan suggests that he did not take part in the D-Day invasion, that he was back in Canada by then as an instructor. However he did take part in one of 1000 plane raids on Berlin, serving as a tail-gunner in Wellingtons and Halifax bombers.
