In July of 1942, with the war not going well for the Allies Jack looked into joining the RCAF, he enlisted 18 July, 1943 in London, ON. His training would be done in London, St. Thomas, Fingal, Calgary Lachine, PQ., Moncton, NB., and finally Halifax NS. The WN 27/01/44 reported that Pilot Officer Hart was stationed at C.A.P.O. 10 RCAF – Labradore. He would embark for overseas duty from New York 12 June, 1944 and subsequently arrive in Iceland 25 August, 1944.
