William who had been serving in England for three years was invalided home due a foot “ailment”. TT 2/09/43 31/10/41. It was reported that William was spending Thanksgiving with his family after an absence of four years overseas.

The CDN 1/09/43 Reported that William was the third Tilbury man who was in overseas service to be invalided home. He arrived unexpectedly to the great surprise and joy of his wife and young children.

He had just been discharged from hospital after six weeks of treatment before being sent home 

It was reported that William was spending Thanksgiving with his family after an absence of four years overseas. TT 21/10/43.
