Lieutenant T. Leslie Irwin was appointed Lieutenant with the 24th Kent Regiment December 27th, 1915, and qualified as Infantry Lieutenant in the C.E.F. May 1st. 1916.

Lieutenant T. Leslie Irwin was appointed with the 149th Battalion, C.E.F. June 28th, 1916, but his appointment being junior he was not selected with the draft to go overseas March 21st, 1917.  He transferred to No. 1 S.S. Company, London, April 15th, as Quartermaster, and to the Forestry Depot, Ottawa, as Quartermaster, September 29th, 1917. After the closing of this depot, April 27th, 1918, and all accounts were adjusted, he was appointed Quartermaster of the Engineer Depot, Brockville, April 28th, 1918, receiving his Captaincy May 24th, 1918.
