Son of Mr. James & Christine Kiyoshk (mother) of Walpole Is. A single farmer. Next of Kin: Christina also assigned pay. Joseph was 22 years old at his enlistment, 5’ 61/2” tall, complexion: Dark, Eyes: blue and Hair: Black   

Attestation: 9/02/1916 at Port Lambton, ON. to 149th Bn. Joseph sailed aboard the S. S. Lapland embarked at Halifax 25/03/17 and disembarked at Liverpool, England, 7/04/17. He was assigned to the 27th Batt. WOR.  Upon arrival in England was TOS with the 25th Batt. at Bramshott, 20/04/17. Joseph was SOS  to join the 161th Batt. 1/06/1917. Joseph had arranged that $15.00 would go to his mother monthly.

On 8/03/1918 Joseph was SOS to the 47th overseas at Whitley. While serving in the field Joseph was wounded by a GSW to the face and was admitted to 83 General Hospital – Boulogne, Fr. He was seriously ill from facial wounds.
