Son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert and Edith Grace Love, of Carlyle Ave., Tilbury, Ontario, Canada.

Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment, (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown). Ted graduated from Tilbury High School and “enlisted upon graduation”.

Ted would transfer from the Army to the RCAF.

AC Love was reported home in Tilbury on a two week furlough from the RCAF – Toronto Manning Pool. LAC. CDN 12/11/42 AC Love was stationed at the RCAF Manning Pool – Toronto in July 1942 when he was given a short leave to see his parents. CDN 9/07/42

Love was home on a week-end pass from his station in Ottawa. TT 6/05/43. In June of 1943 “Ted” received his wings as a Sgt. Pilot and been commissioned as a Pilot Officer at Uplands, ON. TT 17/06/43.

In July of 1943 Ted was on his way to Prince Edward Island after a two week leave at his parent’s home. While in Summerside, PEI  would pursue a “navigation” course. TT1/07/43.  Ted began his leave on the 16th of September. TT16/09/43. P/O Love was home again from training at Summerside PEI and was feted by family and friends before returning to PEI. TT 23/09/43.

The CDN 18/02/43 reported that LAC Love was returning to Uplands, Ottawa after a fortnight’s with his parents.   In February, 1943 Edwin was reported on a two weeks leave from RCAF Uplands, in Ottawa, ON. TT 25/02/43.

The CDN 4/05/43 reported that LAC Love was on leave from Ottawa to spend a weekend with his parents.

P/O Love was home again from training at Summerside PEI and was feted by family and friends before returning to PEI. TT 23/09/43. In February, 1943 Edwin was reported on a two weeks leave from RCAF Uplands, in Ottawa, ON. TT25/02/43.

It was reported in the CDN that P/O Law had been promoted to Flying Officer CDN 29//02/44. The CDN 7/11/44(P) reported that the morning after air operations over enemy territory F/O. ted Love was reported ‘missing’.

Age: 21, KIA – Date of Death: 04/11/1944. Shot down in Halifax bomber # LK 838 on night Air Operations. to Bochurn, Germany. They were attacked near Margraten, Holland. Besides F/O Love and three other crew members were killed, WO. W. C. Roach was taken as a POW, two others, not Canadian were MIA believed killed. A photo of F. O. Love appeared in the local newspaper when he was reported missing.
