Private Joseph W. Lupton mobilized at Valcartier August 21 st, 1914, and left for Bermuda the beginning of September to relieve the 2nd Lincoln Imperial Regiment which was proceeding to France.

The Regiment did garrison duty until August 1915 when relieved by the 38th Canadian Battalion, they left for England and proceeded to France October 30th, 1915, with the Royal Canadian Regiment. After taking part in the engagement at Ypres, June 2nd, 1916, and the Battle of the Somme, September 1st, 1916 ,Private Lupton was appointed Lance Corporal 1/9/16.  He went through the Battle of Vimy Ridge April 9th, 1917 and Passchendaele, and was awarded the Military Medal October 17th, 1917. He took part in Cambria; was awarded the Bar to the Military Medal in the Battle of Amiens August 10th, 1918, and promoted to Sergeant.

He entered the City of Mons November 11th, 1918, with the Canadians, and left France for demobilization, embarking from Liverpool, England, February 1st, 1919, on the S.S. Adriatic. He arrived at Halifax March 8th, 1919, received his discharge the same day, and reached Chatham February 11th, 1919.

Sergeant Joseph W. Lupton received his discharge March 8th, 1919, due to demobilization.
