Son of Mr. Angus and Isabella MacKenzie of R. R. # 4 Thamesville, ON. Angus was a veteran of the Great War. He had a brother in the RCAF and a sister in the CWAC.
Roderick enlisted with the Essex Scottish in 1940.
Reported as a casualty on the Dieppe Raid in the Windsor Star of 16 September, 1942. WS 16/09/42. Then reported MIA after the Dieppe raid. He was reclassified as a POW CDN 29/09/42, this was confirmed as a POW in a German prison camp by the Red Cross. CDN 14/11/42.
