He did his basic training at Dudurn, Saskatchewan with the Tank Corps and completed it in England at Woking in January of 1944.

His first combat duty was in March of 1944 in Cleve, Germany with the Canadian Greadier Guards. He returnd from overseas duty in September of 1945. “My aunt (Mildred Ellerbeck) says a bomb had been dropped in Holland. Blew him out of the tank and his Lieutenant in charge was killed so Archie took over and got them back to safety”.

Archibald passed away, 5/01/1995, internment at Greenwood Cemetery, Ridgetown, ON. M. Smyth, 9/04/13.
