Born 1855 in Chatham, ON. the son of William McKeough. George was educated at public schools in Chatham and at the Chatham Collegiate Institute. He began to study medicine in 1873 with his future partner Dr. T. K. Holmes. In 1874 he attended Trinity College at the University of Toronto and graduated MD 1877 as a gold medalist M.B. at that university. He would spend one year in London, England where he received his MRCS and LRCP at Edinburgh. He studied another year in London, England and Paris, France and was house surgeon in the Royal Free Hospital in London.

Dr. McKeough returned to Chatham and joined with Dr. T. K. Holmes in a partnership. He married Catherine (nee Morris) in Quebec 12/10/1881 and had two daughters Mary and Bessie.

With the outbreak of the Great War Dr. McKeough enlisted in 1916 with the CASC going overseas in January laced with Colonel McKewon and Captain Hunter as President of the Bramshott Medical Board where he served until September of 1916 when he was invalided to Canada where he was discharged from the army.

He would continue his medical practice, serve as school trustee, Vice president of the Chatham Medical Association and the author of many papers. Dr. George T. McKeough passed away in 1931 and is buried at Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham, ON.
