The son of Mr. and Mrs. Alex McVean. The WN 14/10/43(P) reported that James was a member of the winning ‘whaler crew’ was then on duty aboard HMCS Fennel.

The WN 23/03/44 reported that Sub-Lieut was serving on ‘active’ duty.
