Born in Saskatchewan he married Margaret (nee Baxter) McVeigh, father of Gerald, his wife and son were living with his parents Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Baxter of 180 Park Ave. E., Chatham, ON. CDN 20/01/45

R.O.T.C. Ohio State University two years and served forty three months in C.C.C.  Camp U.S.A.

Jerry was attending the University of Columbia when he enlisted in the 1st Kent Regt. in August of 1940. In June 1941 he became a corporal and in Sept. 43 he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant.  The CDN 21/05/43 reported that he had arrived home to spend a short leave with his wife and son living on Park Ave. He planed to visit his parents in Columbus, Ohio.  He rose to the rank of Captain in July of 1944.

Captain VcVeigh reverted to Lieutenant in order to go overseas. CDN 22/01/45.  Reported returning from overseas duty aboard the vessel Queen Mary docking at New York City. CDN 25/07/44, 11/07/45. 

Served overseas from December  19th, 1944 to July 11th, 1945.

Discharged April 9th, 1946.
