Rank Tpr.
Unit # Princess Louise Dragoon Guards

Born 17/04/1917 in Widsor, ON. The son of Robert Newton and Emma Caroline (Peck) Moore, the brother of Mina. Steve married Jean (nee Lewis) 5/08/1939 and they had five children: Jim, Tom, Sue, Ann and Gary.

Steve went overseas with the Pr. Louise in May of 1944 and served in Italy, being at the fall of Rome June 4/5, 1944, which became over shadowed by D-Day on the 6th of June. It is indicated in a very poor copy that Steve left the Pr. Louise in December of 1944, reason unknown.

Steven passed away in March, 1980.

A page in the Port Alma & Glenwood Woman’s Institute Minutes found in the Kent Branch –OGS at the C-K Library, Chatham had a poem apparently written to Steve as follows:

MY PRAYER.

Dear God, please take good care of him

Whereever he may be;

Watchover him, and comfort him,

And keep him safe for me.

Pleas give him strength and courage, God,

To bare the aching pain

That he must feel for all things here

He longs to see again.

Thank you dear God, for love like ours

That reaches over the sea;

And thank you, God, for keeping us

Together, spiritally.

Please keep him trusting, loving me,

Until we meet again;

And tell him every night how much

I love him God.

Amen.
