Born in 1924 the son of William Henry Nourse of Taylor Ave., Chatham, ON.  He trained in many locations in Canada before going overseas to England.

Previous Military Experience: Trained at Lachine, Que., Camp Borden, Toronto,  Prince Edward Island and Three Rivers Que.

William was reported to be sailing for Canada aboard the Ile De France in the CDN 22/06/45(P).

After the dangers of war PO. Nourse was involved in a motor vehicle accident on No. 10 county road reported in the CDN 29/06/45. He and his father were in a coupe driven by Miss Madge Blackburn of Taylor Ave.. Chatham and a army truck southbound 1 ½ miles north of Cedar Springs.

The truck was driven by Tpr. J.W. Dalpee of the cadet camp along with Sgt. Major MacIntosh, Sgt. Houston and Sgt. Major Ford. The Car and the truck sideswiped, the truck into the ditch but the car stayed on the road. Both vehicles were “extensively damaged”. MacIntosh, Houston and PO Nouse and all three were hospitalized.

Though William was injured he pulled one of the passengers in the truck was thorwn clear of the vehicle but landed face down in two feet of water in the ditch. PO Nourse pulled him to safety and appied first aid and “brought the man back to consciousness.

Reported promoted to rank of Flt. Sgt. CDN 20/12/44(P)  and then to P/O. He had been involved in air actions over France, in particular the pounding of the invasion ports, German factories and communications on the European continent in preparation for the D-Day landings in Normandy as well as in Germany. CDN 23/06/44.
