Flight Lieutenant Perkins served at #5 Manning Depot, Lachine, Que., #2 S.F.T.S. Uplands, Ottawa, with Tactical Air Force-144 Wing and 143 Wing in England, France, Holland and Germany.

He was promoted to the rank of Squadron Leader.

It was reported that RCAF Chaplain Perkins was leaving that service to take up his church duties in St Thomas, ON. CDN 27/08/42.    

The past couple of weeks of November, 1942 saw Handley stationed at Lachine PQ. He spent the weekend with his mother Mrs. R.J.M. Perkins, of Grant St., Chatham before leaving for the Toronto Manning Pool. CDN 2/11/42  

It was reported in the CDN 28/12/42 that Flt. Lieut was returning to Lachine, PQ after spending his Christmas with his mother Mrs. R.J.M Perkins and Mr. and Mrs. Russell Perkins. It was reported that RCAF Chaplain Perkins was leaving that service to take up his church duties in St Thomas, ON. CDN 27/08/42

The CDN 25/10/43 reported that Flight-Lieutenant Perkins, stationed at RCAF-Uplands. He was reported spending a few days with his mother.   

Flt. Lieut. and Rev. Handley R. Perkins according to the CDN reported, he was coming to from Uplands , Ottawa to Chatham. He wanted to spend some time before his mother went on the S.S. Noronic on a trip up the lakes to Deluth.

The CDN 19/04/44 reported that Flt. Lieut. Perkins and his mother were guests of Mrs. Orville Murphy at Rosebery Place. The Flt. Lieut. was in Chatham to preach at St. John’s church. They left for London where he spoke in the Cronyn Memorial church. [St. Thomas Times – Journal].       

The CDN 26/11/45 reported that Sqd. Ldr. (Rev) Perkins was aboard the troop ship “Empress of Scotland was scheduled to arrive in Halifax on the 27th of November.

Date of Discharge: January 24, 1946.
