A native of Kent Co., ON., brother of Louise (Pinsonneault). Leonard served on the corvette HMCS Rimouski, crossing the Atlantic ocean 24 times during the war. He was in action on D-Day 6 June, 1944.

Leonard and Norma (nee Hetherington) met in 1948 and they married in 1952 in Thamesville, ON. They had three children, Brent, Lori (McRitchie) and Jon. Leonard and Norma were living in Calgary, AB. When Norma passed away 5/02/2016.

Leonard was living in Calgary, AB in 2016 he was awarded the French Legion of Honour medal for his service on D-Day 6 June, 1944, at the age of 91 years and doing well his daughter reports. L. McRitchie.
