From North Buxton, Raleigh Twsp., Kent Co., ON. Lavern was called up for military training at BTC. Chatham along with A. H. Jr. Alexander, P. V. Alexander and S. D. Rhue. CDN 14/03/42. James, stationed at Niagara-on-the-Lake was on leave to visit his home. CDN 4/06/42.

The CDN 20/05/44 reported that L/Cpl. Robbins and some friends from Camp Borden were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Watts and Mrs. Robins in North Buxton. The MS 6/01/44 reported  L/Cpl. spent a few days in the community  during his mother Constance illness. The MS 1/06/44 reported L/Cpl. Robbins returned to Camp Borden after a two week s leave.

The MS 20/01/44 reported at Camp Borden spent a week-end with Mrs. Robbins and their baby “Connie” and visited Mr. and Mrs. Earl Chase. The MS 17/02/44 reported he spent  a week-end visiting his wife and friends in Merlin.

The Merlin Standard 20/07/44 reported that L/Cpl. Lavern was stationed at Camp Borden when he and Pte. Wellington Travis, of No. 12. BFC at Chatham took a leave to their homes. Lavern was reported being on a week-end pass with his wife and baby daughter.

The MS (1944 date unknown) was reported to be on a week-end pass from Camp Borden to be with his family in North Buxton.
