Born 18/07/1922 son of William James and Gertrude Sarah (nee Beaubien) of Dover Twsp., the  brother  of Albert F. Benjamin and Roy of Raleigh Twsp., Kent Co., ON.  He graduated from SS #14, Raleigh.

Married to Audrey, father to Ronald, Joyce, Gary, Sandy, Trudy, Rosalie, Sharon, John Jr., Bill, Shelley and Mark.  Brother of Grace (Pepper), Roy, Harry, Albert F., Benjamin and Ruth (Walker) of Raleigh Twsp, Kent County, Ontario.

Enlisted in 2/05/1941 at the RCAF Windsor Recruiting Centre. He received his basic training at No.1 Manning Depot in Toronto and was recruited for commando training.  From there he was assigned to 5 SFTS (Special Flying Training School) at Brantford, ON. He completed six months of specialized training there and was then sent to No. 31 Radio School RCAF in Clinton.

Jack was an expert in unarmed combat and was sent to Botwood, NFLD to complete the British Commando instructors’ course on 21/07/1942.  He was part of a security team that tracked down German spies and saboteurs. As well as providing security of dignitaries passing through Botwood. One of the dignitaries was Winston Churchill when he was on his way back to England after the 2nd Washington Conference.

In March of 1943, the team was sent to St. John’s to investigate a threat to shipping and military personnel. A number of unexplained fires and the sinking of several ships had resulted in the loss of numerous civilian and military personnel.

Jack’s overseas assignment (NFLD) ended 30/08/1943 when he was transferred to No. 9 SFTS Centralia. Cpl. Seney was honourably discharged from the RCAF 2/09/1944.

After the war he was a police officer in Chatham, ON.  He was part of the security team when Queen Elizabeth visited Canada in 1959.  He also owned the Uptown Music Store in Chatham.

Jack passed away Thursday, 18 March, 1999 in Chatham and is interned at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
