Regimental number: 1260058. Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box: 8885-9, Item: 227858, PDF: B8885-SO09. Date of Birth: 21/07/1893 at Chatham, ON. The son of Mrs. A. S. Shreve (Lorie) widowed, of Chatham, ON. George was an accountant, living at 64 McIntyre St., North Bay, ON.

Attestation: 15/05/1916 at Ottawa, ON. Age 27 years 10 months. Height 5’ 5”, Complexion: Dark, Eyes:  Brown, Hair: Brown. Medical completed 30/05/16 at Ottawa, ON.

Embarked at Halifax  Canada 19/09/16. Disembarked at Liverpool, England 25/09/16.  Signaller George F. Shreve crossed to England, after enlistment, on the “Olympic” training at Witley Camp until September 1917, when he transferred to the Royal Flying Corps as Lieutenant.

Served with 13th Brigade Ammunition Col. CEF. Transferred to Staff HQ. Served with the 18th Brigade from June to August 1916.

Served with Cdn. Field Artillery in England 15th Bde. CFA 22/01/17. 20/04/17 posted to Trench Mortor Batteries with the 5th Trench nortor Batt Was posted to Heavy Trench Mortor Brigade 14/08/17. George was reported listed as a Gunner with the 13th Brigade at Whitly Camp 

He was T.O.S with the Royal Flying Corp 20/04/18 (British Isles). Commissioned in the Imperial Army – RFC 16/11/17. Gazetted 28/11/17 – “Military Character Very Good” 

Arrived back in Canada 25/09/18 aboard the S.S. Olympic.
