Regimental number: 189439 Reference:  RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 9098 – 27, Item: 240175, PDF: B9098-S027 Date of Birth 08/08/1894 at Newcastle-On-Tyne, or Gateshead-on-Tyne, county of Surham, England. Son of Mrs. Minnie Smith of 15 The Strand, Windy Nook, Gateshead-On-Tyne, England; his father had passed away [date unkown] A single student living in Chatham, ON. Attestation: 24/11/1915 at St. Thomas, ON. to 91st Bn., age 21yrs. 3 mos. He would have his Medical at Chatham, ON., 22/11/15 He would later 10/07/1919, marry F. M. Smith at Hastings, she was living at 15 The Stead, Windy Nook, Gatesnook-on-the-Tyne and later at 13 Athelstan Road, Clive Vale, Hastings, England.   

While he was stationed at the Exhibition Camp at Toronto he came down with Scabies from 17/01/17 to 5/02/17 with no disability results. Robert would transfer from the 91st to the 186th overseas Batt. aboard the S. S. Lapland 23/03/17. They arrived in Liverpool 7/04/17 and TOS with the 4th Reserve Battalion at Bramshott. He was later posted to the 1st Battalion CEF for overseas duty (to France).

30/10/18 he was posted to the 2nd CMR as a L/Cpl. He received a “Good Cnduct Badge” while in the field and was promoted to Cpl. 30/11/18. Robert would be SOS 25/07/19 and Demobilized in England living at Tunbridge Bakery, Tombridge, Kent, Barden Road.
