The son of Sgt. and Mrs. C. Somerville of 10 Delaware Ave., Chatham, ON.  Prior to his enlistment he was working as a truck drive for the Beaver lumber Co. in Chatham.

‘Chris’ enlisted with the RCAF in Windsor, ON.  his enlistment 24 June 1941 he was stationed at St. Thomas, ON.  In April of 1942 he was training in Saskatchewan when he was on a furlough to visit his parents.  

The CDN 17/04/43 reported that LAC Somerville had arrived from Dafoe, SK. to spend his furlough with his parents in Chatham. The CDN 28/06/43(P) reported to be 20 years old when he arrived in England.   

In December of 1944 then stationed in Toronto was home on a Christmas leave with his parents in Chatham. CDN 23/12/44 It was more than seeing his parents as a wedding took place in the Vestry of Park Street, United Church where Christopher wed Dora Hazel Chamberlain of Southwold Station.  A horse and cutter conveted the newlyweds to the train station where they boarded the train for Windsor. When they returned from the honeymoon they settled in Chatham. CDN 28/12/44.

 The CDN 24/10/44 reported that Chris along with LAC Kenneth Weller who was a Chatham boy then living in Toledo.

In December of 1944 then stationed in Toronto was home on a Christmas leave with his parents.
