John McArthur Taylor

 

Son of William and Margaret A. Taylor, of 257 Inshes Ave., Chatham, Ontario, Canada. The brother of Sgt. William KIA at Dieppe and sister LAW Elizabeth serving in the RCAF(WD) in Halifax.

Appears on the “Muster Roll” of the 2nd Bn., Kent Regiment (MG), N.P.A.N. (date unknown).

John would transfer from the Army to the RCAF R169590. In March of 1944 P/O J28008, Taylor was reported to have arrived safely overseas. CDN 9/03/44 Flying Officer (Pilot), Royal Canadian Air Force, Unit Text: 31 (R.A.F.) Sqdn.  Jack was reported Missing after air operation in India. CDN 22/11/44.

Age: 22, KIA – Date of Death: 08/11/1944, Service No: J/28008.  The crew of Dakota aircraft JM 924 on supply drop to British 14th Army in Burma, when they were shot down by an enemy fighter 25 miles NE of Tidden, Berma. Four other crew were killed, P/O’s C.K. Douglas, M.W. Duley, D.A. MacLaren, plus a RAF crew member.   

Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead, Grave/Memorial Reference: Coll. grave 16A. E. 23-27. Cemetery: TAUKKYAN WAR CEMETERY, Rangoon, Burma.
