Resident Ridgetown

Reference: RG 150, Accession 1992-93/166, Box 9841 – 49 Date of Birth 02/06/1888 at Ridgetown, ON.  Son of David and Hannah (Fields) Turner  of Mull, Kent Co., ON. A single farmer  and a well known jockey in the circuits throughout the United States and Canada in his youth. Attestation: 27/09/1915 at Chatham, ON. to 70th Bn., overseas with 18th Bn., reported to have transferred to the PPCLI.

After the war Nelson returned to Mull where he worked on the Michigan Central Railway. He married Edna May (nee Fields) and they had three sons Gilbert, David, Nelson, who served in WWII and a daughter Edith and another son Alfred. Edna May passed away in 1927.

Died 3/04/1944 at Westminister Hospital, London, ON., Nelson had been ill since 1936. Internment was at Greenwood Cemetery. BNT 12/04/44  Paybook at Blenheiem Historical Society. Aug. 2010, found at BFL 1/08/06
