Unit # Hastings, Prince Edward Regiment

Lieut. Hastings, Prince Edward Regt. The husband of Marjorie (nee Emery) of Chatham. Marjorie was residing at her parent’s home on Elizabeth St.

Enlisting in The “Hasty Pats” in 1942 he went overses in May of 1943. Reported missing in action in December of 1943 during the advance on Ortona. He was wounded in the battle and “left on the field when his unit was forced to retreat hurriedly”. The nature of his wounds had not been disclosed. He was captured by the Germans. Reported missing 13/12/1943 it had been confirmed that he was a POW at Olfag-8-F ‘Officers Camp’ in Germany.

A postcard from her husband and two letters had been received by his wife stating that he is fine and being treated “as well as could be expected”. Apparently his wounds had healed at the time of the correspondence. CDN 20/03/44
