Unit # Black Watch, Royal Highlanders of Canada

The husband of Rosalie (nee Guerin) of 214 Gillard St., Wallaceburg they had a daughter named Maureen. Born in Wallaceburg, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Theo Charron. His brother, Fred, was serving in the Army it Italy. His other brothers included Arthur and Michael, who were both living in Wallaceburg, and Roy and Daniel who were both living in Detroit, Michigan. There were also three sisters: Mrs. William Murphy, and Agnes of Wallaceburg and Mrs. F. Barnes of Detroit.

Clayton enlisted for active service in December of 1943 and he had been overseas for about a year.

Clayton was reported as being wounded in action in Germany while serving with the Black Watch (Royal Highlanders of Canada). His received a shrapnel wound to the leg during actions on 29 March 1945 WN 26/04/45.
