Rank Major
Resident Highgate

Father CW Cline had been a former chaplain of a church in Ridgetown. He moved on to become an Army Chaplain.

According to the Highgate paper on January 9, 1941, “Padre C.W. Cline is winding up his two weeks furlough and goes to regiment, the Queen’s Own, at Toronto, this week.”

The Ridgetown Independent noted some time in 1943: “The name of C.W. Cline of Highgate is included in a list of 65 officers and 19 other ranks of the Canadian Army overseas whose promotion has been announced at Ottawa. Rev. Mr. Cline’s new rank is that of Acting Honorary Major.”

On March 15, 1945, the Highgate paper noted:  “We are likely to have Major (Rev.) C.W. Cline home by the end of March. At present, he is in Holland.”
