Very cheerful manner. Not aggressive but fairly self-confident. Does not mix well with the
crowd easily but prefers small circle of close friends. Not interested in sports or social activities,
but in more quiet home pursuits.
25 th June, 1943.
Huxley did Advanced Training at A-10 despite a B-1 category. He was then sent to No. 4
Vocational School at Montreal where he took a tinsmith’s course. On his return to Camp
Borden he was not trade tested as the Infantry quota did not allow for such tradesmen. Since
February he has been acting as hut orderly because his B-1 category forbade his dispatch
overseas. As long as he remains in Infantry he seems condemned to stay on routine duties in
Canada. A transfer to R.C.A.M.C would allow him to proceed overseas and would give him a
chance of using his trade. He appears to be a reliable, conscientious young man but he has
become rather tired of his purely routine duties.
Recommendation: Transfer to R.C.A.M.C as tinsmith, to be trade tested.
The following is submitted by Robert D. Huxley, Son and shows a photo of his father Norman Huxley with Norman’s sister Maxine (Huxley) Morrow. He did not enlist until 1942 and had his first leave in October of that year. Maxine left for duty in February 1943. Unless their leaves coincided again October 1942 is when it was taken.
