Walter enlisted in the RCAF 10/01/42 and was reported at home on a weekend pass 27th of April, 1942 from Trenton training station. CDN 27/04/42. Married to Maryian Doriene (Hornby) they were living in Chatham. Walter was stationed in Canada from January 1942 until 13/12/42 when he left for England to join Bomber Command there. Walter a AC1 in August of 1942 managed a furlough so he and Maryian he could visit her mother Helena in Chatham before Walter left for Toronto where he would continue his training before departing for England.
